Somehow in my group of friends we have started referring to each other as Marble Hornets characters and it ended up like this:
I’m Momma Tim
My friend is Poppa Brian
My brother is Uncle Jay
My sister is Third Cousin Twice removed Alex
Another friend is Questionably un/related Seth
How this happened I don’t know. All I know is somehow Momma Tim has do deal with all of the fights while Poppa Brian just laughs. Dumbass kids.
People who call Masky and Hoodie (however you want to spell it) creepypastas or proxies make me so uncomfortable and annoyed. Did they even watch Marble Hornets?
Actually.. Tim himself said that he didn’t give it a single though (Or single…
Woah woah woah, I apologize if it sounded as if I were attacking you with my opinion, that isn’t what I meant at all. All I actually intended to point out in my original reply was how the creators said that they don’t really care about it at all (Not that I know them personally myself, but after sifting through Tim’s blog I’ve found some answered asks about this exactly).
I, personally, think that it’s okay to add them into your pasta fics or whatever, however if you begins to fight somebody when they point out that they really are from MarbleHornets and not pasta’s by technicality, then I begin to have a problem.
However I really do agree with you on how you seem do dislike how Hoodie and Masky are popularly written. It seems that people write their (non canonical and slightly offensive) obsession with cheesecake over their actual personalities- something I am highly against as somebody who takes their writing and character development seriously.
Oh no, I didn’t feel attacked. I just do my best not to make others feel that way. As I am sure you are aware this site is very sensitive about opinions and, well, everything. I assumed they didn’t care all that much it just upsets me when people make shit up for characters they didn’t create. If you want to make a character your own just make a character.
I don’t mind writing MH characters with creepypasta characters. I find it fun. But keeping them all in character is important. But yes, what I’m saying mainly is they are not pastas and they are not proxies.
The portrayals of Masky and Hoodie make me so confused. Anyway, I have enjoyed this little conversation with you. As I said, debating is the way to keep fandoms alive, right?

Actually.. Tim himself said that he didn’t give it a single though (Or single fuck) about how people consider Hoodie and Masky pastas. I don’t see why people tend to make a big fuss about them being different things, and people not knowing that they /technically/ aren’t pasta’s.
To be honest, my main issue is that people literally have no idea how to play them in character and just base them off of the idea that they are obedient to Slenderman. Maybe the actual issue is I take role play and being in character too seriously. Actually, the problem in a lot of cases is the person complaining is too serious about something. (Don’t quote me on that and start making me the bad guy because I can accept that I am too uptight sometimes, this isn’t me saying people wanting to change the oppressiveness of their lives are being “too serious”. That would be a completely different conversation and I’m not about to be attacked on a damn website for it over creepy stories and my personal views on writing.)
Also, I never said that the creators are against it. I don’t know them. I literally never will. I just personally don’t think it makes sense for those two to be considered proxies based upon the story and the concept of what a proxy would be. I am very pleased to see people reacting to this though. Debating such topics is how to keep a fandom alive, is it not?
If someone could prove to me that the two ‘states of mind’ did physical tasks directly for Slenderman, I will happily discuss that would them and go back through the story to see if it makes sense. Until then, not that anyone really cares or not, I’m not changing my opinion.

Do you think every time a firework goes off near where Tim is he just gets so scared because he thinks what if Alex is back and he just gets up and/or stares at the window or something waiting for him to shoot again until he realizes no he’s dead he cant be here.
Or every time he hears one he can just picture that one moment from entry 80 and he just reenacts Jay’s death in his head every time a firework goes off.
